What does organic mean?

Certified Organic products are grown and processed without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilisers, or GMO's and all of the ingredients can be traced back to its origin. Organic farming takes an ethical and sustainable approach to soil, plants and also the animals, people, and environment around the products.

What you'll never find in our products

Organic beauty is free of harsh chemicals like sulphates, parabens, phthalates which are linked to cancer. If you're unsure about sulphates and parabens check out my other blogs about them.

But what are phthalates? A family of industrial chemicals used to soften polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic and as solvents in cosmetics and other consumer products. Phthalates can damage the liver, kidneys, lungs, and reproductive system.

They are used to make plastics more durable and are used to help dissolve other materials. Phthalates are found in hundreds of products, such as vinyl flooring, lubricating oils, and beauty products (soaps, shampoos, hair sprays).

Organic Beauty is better for the environment

No testing on animals. All of the products and ingredients we carry are Leaping Bunny certified and cruelty free. The Leaping Bunny Logo is the only internationally recognized symbol guaranteeing consumers that no new animal tests were used in the development of any product displaying it.

Organic farming uses sustainable ingredients, supply chains and energy resources that work with not against our existing ecosystems ie water, soil. Apart from being a danger to your health, harsh chemicals also affect the marine and wildlife when released into the environment.

Organic farms tend to have more fertile soil, use less energy and have more long-term carbon storage potential than conventional farms. Research has shown that organic farms use 45 percent less energy, release 40 percent less carbon emissions, and foster 30 percent more biodiversity compared to conventional farming.

The brands we source are proudly carbon neutral, use sustainable packaging and are partners of 1% For The Planet which means they contribute 1% of their annual sales to the planet. We here at C&B also use only eco-friendly packaging including compostable mailers and shipping labels, thermal printers and recyclable hex wrap in place of bubble wrap.
